Absorption

Time rushes like a river; once moving, it does not stop
In fact, it actually speeds up as it progresses.
Swimming against a strong current, trying to get on top
More and more force is exerted as your strength regresses.

Events pass quickly and words fly past, but you still keep on
If you could only find something stable to hold onto,
You could take a moment to recover energy gone
As the current of time flows and the world passes by you.

In all lives, a time will come when one must sit back and watch.
When things whirl in circles and the mind is dazed, it is time
To take a step off to the side and drop speed by a notch.
Eventually, you'll return, but there's no need to whine.

Opportunities to take a rest do not come often
But when they do, fully appreciate their rarity and worth.
When watching, absorb your surroundings, but do not soften,
For, you will still need your strength to survive on this good earth.
